One of Melbourne's oldest strip shopping centres, Glenferrie Road in Malvern, is recognised for its set of quaint stores and friendly, local charm. But we'll let you in on a little secret — this precinct is now evolving with contemporary stores, cafes and restaurants popping up, attracting a diverse range of people from all over Melbourne. We made a trip to the strip and compiled our favourite stores and eateries to give you the best of Glenferrie Road, Malvern.
For Your Wardrobe
Malvern's Glenferrie Road is an up and coming haunt for Melbourne fashionistas and the perfect place to take visitors to pick up something unique. First stop is Monte Establishment inside of Malvern Central Shopping Centre. Here you will find a standout range of both home-grown and international labels, in a store decked out in a Scandinavian-meets-earthy decor that you'll wish you could replicate in your home.

For a shop that exudes Melbourne style, a pit stop at Odeya is a must. Showcasing unique designs in primarily black, whites, greys and neutrals, it's the perfect place to pick up high-quality wardrobe staples with a fashion twist.
For accessories, you can't go past Bell Frankie + Co — the home of statement jewellery. Here you will find everything from elegant, crystal emblazoned necklaces, to fun bracelets made from textiles and pom poms. Seen on the likes of Bec Judd, Samantha Armytage and a slew of social media influencers, this label founded by Amy Ardlie has exploded on to Melbourne's fashion scene.Monte Establishment | Shop 36b Malvern Central Shopping Centre, 110–122 Wattletree Road, Malvern Odeya | 163 Glenferrie Road, Malvern Bell Frankie + Co | 1B Evandale Road, Malvern
For Your Home
This precinct is home to a wide variety of home decor stores, catering to both indoor and outdoor spaces. One of our favourite spots to pick up something that brings the outdoors in is Cool Cactus. Situated just off Glenferrie Road on Barkly Avenue, Cool Cactus sells just that — cool cactus, plus a range of other awesome greenery. Walking into the store feels like you've transported into a little cacti-oasis, accented with touches of colour from the range of homewares and books also for sale.
If you want to inject a bit of colour into your home, pay a visit to Mondocherry where you will find a range of original artworks and designs in beautiful vivid colours. The difference you'll find with the offerings in this store is the love that has gone into creating each piece, whether created by the owners — Clare and Joy — or by one of the many designers and artisans featured in their store. A favourite from Mondocherry is the Muskhane Smartie Cushion — a brightly coloured, round cushion, handmade in Nepal in a FairTrade Community.
Another great spot to pick up something colourful is Crate Expectations. Here, you will find an array of furniture, homewares and artworks as well as some quirky statement jewellery and fashion accessories. Their selection of wall art is a standout for us, with a variety of modern geometric pieces through to whimsical watercolour-style prints.Cool Cactus | 6A Barkly Avenue, Armadale Mondocherry | 3 Claremont Avenue, Malvern Crate Expectations | 1A Llaneast Street, Malvern
For Your Appetite

Did someone say milkshakes and fries? These two, often recognised as sides to the main meal, take centre stage at BOY & Co. Enjoy a shake from their Classic range, like the Average Joe (trusty vanilla) or The Heisenberg (aka Blue Heaven). Or, if you want the full experience, road test a shake from their Pimped range, like the Britney Spearmint (choc-peppermint sauce mixed with Oreo crumbs).

With a cabinet full of French pastries and cakes, along with a menu that covers all the brunch favourites, it's hard to walk past Millstone Patisserie without taking a peek inside. Their all day menu features the classic avocado smash and a delicious breakfast roll on brioche. Favourites from their sweets selection include the custard cronuts and their range of tarts, but it's hard to imagine any of their treats would disappoint!
How does eating delicious Italian dinner, followed by a stroll around an art exhibition, topped off with drinks at a rooftop bar sound? Well at Sagra, you can do all of these things. Here, the tradition found in authentic Italian food comes together with a modern spin, noticeable both in the menu and decor. Crowd favourites include the herb lamb shoulder and the barramundi — bon appetit!
